Edwardsville YMCA Lessons & Classes > Tennis

Welcome to the indoor tennis facility at the Meyer Center! Whether you are a new player, an experienced player, or a player wanting to return to the great sport of tennis, you will find programs listed that will benefit players of all ages and levels of play.

Court Fees: $15 per hour (non-members will be charged an additional $2 fee per hour)
Court Hours: Normal operating hours of the YMCA, except on days that Edwardsville District 7 schools are not in session, daytime tennis will not be available.
Court Reservations: Members may reserve a court up to 1 week in advance for the date requested. Nonmembers may reserve a court up to 48 hours in advance. To reserve a court, call 655-1460. REMINDER: If you cannot play at your scheduled time, please give the YMCA 24 hours notice so we can try to reschedule the court. If we are unable to reschedule the court, you are responsible for payment.
Racquet Stringing: Whether you have a new racquet needing strings or an old racquet needing to be restrung, the YMCA will be able to assist you. For a nominal fee, we will string your racquet.
Walk-On Tennis: Walk-on tennis will be offered for Edwardsville YMCA members at a discounted rate on designated days and times. Reservations will not be allowed for these times. Courts will be filled on a first-come first-served basis. Please check at the tennis center for updated information.
Ball Machine: The ball machine is a great way to hit tennis balls when you are unable to find a partner or just want to improve on your tennis strokes. It can provide a great workout for any level of player. The machine is available for reservation in half-hour increments. A staff member will set up the machine and show you how to use it for various drills. Ball Machine Fee: $5 per half-hour plus normal court fees.

Tennis Blocktime: Reserving a blocktime for leagues and individual courts assures you a court on a specified day and time beginning the week of September 8, 2008 through December 19, 2008. Reserving a permanent court time also makes you responsible for payment on the court. Call 655-1460 X236 to reserve your court time.

Reserving permanent courts for the 2008 /2009 season:
Monday, August 4th - YMCA members returning from the 2007/2008 season.
Monday, August 11th- YMCA members who did not have courts for the 2007/2008 season.
Monday, August 18th - Open reservations.

RETURNING THIS FALL!!

Adult Convenience Leagues
The YMCA will be offering a tennis convenience league for all individuals interested in playing singles. A convenience league is set up in a typical structured format except you are not committed to a specific time or day. You and your opponent schedule a time to play that is "convenient" for both of you. A men's league and a women's league will be offered. Players of all ability levels are encouraged to sign up. Look for additional information on these leagues in September.

Adult Tennis Lessons
Tennis lessons will again be offered for adults this fall. We will offer classes for beginner and intermediate players. Adult lessons are a great way to meet other players and to improve on your game.

Adult Drills
Get your heart pumping and work on your tennis at the same time. These drills will be geared toward the intermediate to advanced player looking for a good cardio workout. More information will be available in the fall.
