ready for the newest sport at the Edwardsville YMCA
Meyer Center - roller hockey leagues and introductory
roller hockey clinics! The Skate Center offers the
perfect environment for everyone, regardless of ability
or skill level to participate in the game! The Skate
Center offers a 160 ft. by 80 ft. floor complete with
dasher boards, players' benches, and penalty boxes
- the works!
Drop-In
Hockey April
and May 2008
Ages
K to 8th Grade ONLY
Thursday, 6pm to 8pm and Saturday, 10am to 12pm
DESCRIPTION:
Parents are allowed on the floor to instruct their
child. No slap shots are allowed & everyone is
required to wear a helmet. Drop in Hockey is designed
for hockey players who are looking to improve their
skills in a group setting. This is a great time to
practice skating, puck handling and shooting skills.

Sets of goals are used to play hockey from side to
side; full court hockey will not be allowed
Please Note: There will be limited instruction provided
during drop in hockey.
COST:
Cost is $3 per hour for each person on the skating
floor; payment required before entering the floor;
please pay at the skate counter.

Hockey
League for Kids
Hockey
will begin October 2008 with a second league January
2009. Leagues will be offered for kids grades K-8.
Register early as space will be limited. We will form
teams according to grades and skill. The games could
be played on different days depending on the grade
level.
Teams
will have a maximum of 13 players. Games will be approximately
one hour including warm-ups. We use a 2 minute stop
clock, changing lines every 2 minutes, making it easier
for changes and give every player a chance to play.
Equipment
Requirements :
Helmet, shin guards, elbow pads, protective cup, and
gloves. You must have your own skates and hockey
stick. Parents must wear a helmet if they are
on the floor
Hockey
Rental
The
hockey floor is available to rent at $55 per hour.
We will provide the hockey nets; you will need your
own equipment, including helmet (w/face mask for kids).
Skates are not available for rental. Please call 618-655-1460
X 243 and ask for John for reservations.
Volunteer
Coaches
The
success of our youth sports program is based on support
and involvement from volunteers. Share a special experience
with your child; sign up as a volunteer coach by checking
the box on your registration form.
