Preschool/Pre-K
(School Year Program)
The YMCA Preschool/Pre-K
has been providing a well-balanced program to our
local communities for 40 years. The program emphasizes
social interaction, fine and gross motor skills, everyday
science and nature activities, cultural and art activities,
simple math activities, and outdoor play. We encourage
the development of a positive attitude towards peers,
adults, and teachers as they prepare to enter school.
This is a parent cooperative program.
Students
must be potty-trained. Located
at the Esic Center.
3-Year-Olds
(Tues. & Thurs., 9:00am-11:30am or 12:30pm-3:00pm)
$60.00/month
Our three year old program emphasizes social interaction,
fine and gross motor skills, science and nature activities,
cultural and art activities and outdoor play. We encourage
the development of a positive attitude toward peers,
adults, and teachers. There are 15 children in each
3's class, along with a lead teacher and two co-op
parents. Three year olds are offered gymnastic lessons
in the fall, rookies sampler in the winter and swimming
lessons in the spring. The 3's will participate in
the annual Circus in March.
Requirements: Child must be 3 before September
1 of the current school year. Parent MUST help in
classroom at least twice a month.
Pre-Kindergarten
AM (Mon., Wed. & Fri., 9:00am-12:00am) $86.00/month
Pre-Kindergarten
PM (Mon, Tues, Wed & Thurs, 12:30-3:00)$92.00/month
Our Pre-Kindergarten program offers your child
a chance to grow and learn in time for their kindergarten
year. The teachers provide a nurturing and caring
environment to help your child develop. We offer science,
math, art, fine and gross motor activities, beginning
phonics and much more. Your child will be able to
participate in gymnastic lessons in the fall, rookies
sampler in the winter, and swim lessons in the spring.
The Pre-K classes also are involved in the annual
Circus held in March. There are many field trips that
are available for this age group, including apple
farm, pumpkin farm, assorted community helper field
trips, and a bus trip to visit a kindergarten class
in May. There are 18 children in each class with one
lead teacher and two co-op parents. Requirements:
Child must be 4 before September 1 of the current
school year. Parent MUST help in classroom at least
twice a month.
MUST
BE AN EDWARDSVILLE YMCA MEMBER TO REGISTER FOR SCHOOL
YEAR PRESCHOOL.
Participants must be potty trained (except toddlers).
