Title: Summer Camp Activity Coordinator |
Projected Dates: May 2010 – August 13, 2010
Brief Description of Job Duties: The Summer Camp Activity Coordinator will be responsible for creating and implementing program concepts, themes and activities for summer camp participants in the kindergarten through fifth grade age groups. The incumbent will also effectively lead and direct the summer camp counselors to successfully execute these programs and activities. Opportunities exist for continued employment with the YMCA Kids Network Program upon completion of Summer Camp.
Qualifications:
- Completed or currently pursuing Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university, preferably in education or child care related discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working in a residential and/or day camp setting.
- Knowledge and experience in creating and implementing camp programming.
- Leadership abilities to direct staff to execute programs and activities effectively.
- Sincere interest and ability to work with groups of campers ages 5-11.
- Ability to readily adapt to changing situations or tasks.
Schedule: Approximately 30+ hours/week, Monday-Friday. Can be suitable for a teacher/school year employee. Schedule in May is for planning/orientation purposes and can possibly be scheduled so as not to conflict with current school year employment.
Hourly Pay Rate: $10-12.00/hour

Title: ACCESS Program Lead Instructor |
Brief Description of Job Duties: The ACCESS Program Lead Instructor will be responsible for planning, promoting, and coordinating programs for the Edwardsville YMCA’s adaptive program, ACCESS (All Children Can Experience Sports Successfully) which is an inclusion sports program designed so that all children can learn to play sports together. The Lead Instructor will also be responsible for scheduling and training staff and volunteers for session programs.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing or completed degree in special education field, or equivalent work experience.
- Prefer minimum of two years experience working with children with special needs.
- Ability to effectively instruct and adapt activities for individuals with special needs.
- Leadership abilities to direct staff to execute programs and activities effectively and to high standards.
- Excellent writing, communication and computer skills.
- Must possess a sensitivity and enthusiastic ability to foster positive relationships with a diverse group of employees, volunteers, children and parents.
- First Aid and CPR certifications required.
Schedule: Approximately 5 hours/week. Will include class preparation, marketing, scheduling staff/volunteers and class instruction.
Hourly Pay Rate: Range $10.00-12.00/hour, based on level of experience.

Title: Aquatics Coordinator |
Brief Description of Job Duties: The Aquatics Coordinator will assist the Aquatics Director in the supervision, training and scheduling of lifeguard and swim instructor staff at two year-round indoor pools and one outdoor summer pool. This is a working supervisor position on the pool deck alongside the instructors and guards, as well as requiring administrative duties appropriate to the position.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing or completed a minimum of Associates degree from accredited college or university, preferably in fitness/recreation related discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years experience as a certified lifeguard or equivalent experience
- Excellent writing, communication and computer skills
- Enthusiastic ability to foster positive relationships with a diverse group of employees, members and volunteers
- Proven success in supervising and developing staff of all ages.

- Current Red Cross certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer
Work Schedule: Part-time position, 20-30hrs/week. Will require availability during open pool hours, including weekends & evenings.

Title: Aquatics Exercise Instructor |
The Aquatics Exercise Instructor will provide members and class participants with well-designed, physically safe programs which are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate and that serve the needs of the YMCA client population. The instructor will prepare progressive exercise plans for program participants, lead classes and groups in aquatics exercise programs, and be willing to fill-in as substitute instructor when possible. Must be willing to work at two year-round indoor pools and/or one outdoor summer pool, and provide care and supervision of all participants.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year experience as YMCA water exercise instructor or equivalent experience.
- Successful work history of conducting physically safe, enjoyable aquatics exercise programs in a group setting.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with a diverse group of employees, members and volunteers.
- Current Red Cross certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Certification, Aqua Fitness Certification.
Schedule: Varies according to class schedule. May include day, evening or weekend hours. Teach 2-3 classes and be available to substitute for other instructors.

Looking for Spinning Instructor to add to our great fitness center team! Must be able to teach 2-3 classes per week after 5:00pm, and an 8:00am Saturday class on a rotation basis.
Must have current certification from Mad Dogg Athletics to apply. |
