What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is a term that means "FREE MONEY." St. Mary's purchases gift certificates from participating retailers that are redeemable just like cash. (When you purchase SCRIP from St. Mary's, you are purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are treated just like cash.)

Why should I buy SCRIP?
Because SCRIP is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. St. Mary's purchases these gift certificates at the discounted price and sells them for face value. The profit is retained by St. Mary's at no additional cost to you!!! That is why we say... SCRIP means free money!!!

How much does St. Mary's earn?
Last year, St. Mary's earned $20,000 from the SCRIP fundraiser. A school of our size easily spends between one and two million dollars per year of food, clothing, and other essentials. If each family would use SCRIP for these purchases, St. Mary's could easily raise as much as $40,000 to $60,000 per year -- Without spending an additional penny!!!

How do I purchase SCRIP?
There are a number of easy ways to purchase SCRIP...

1. SCRIP is available in the copy room every morning before school until about 8:00am.
2. SCRIP is available after every Mass.
3. An order can be sent in to school with your child in a designated envelope marked SCRIP. These orders will be filled every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and sent home with your child on those days (excluding holidays).

Who participates in SCRIP?
The list of participating retailers is constantly growing. All of our local grocery stores and most restaurants in the area participate. The most commonly purchased certificates are kept in stock. Every Monday you can place an order for any participating merchant on the list and you will have your certificates by the following Wednesday (excluding holidays). A list of the participating merchants is available upon request.

How do I know how much I have purchased?
Quarterly, you will receive a letter in your child's envelope indicating how much SCRIP you have purchased to date. This information will only be available at the end of each quarter.

* St. Mary's encourages sending your orders in with your child to school. It is a very easy and convenient way to make your purchases. Please make sure your child is aware of the value of the contents in the envelope and that they are responsible for it. St. Mary's does not have a replacement policy. These certificates are treated as cash and can not be replaced.
