Annual Friends of Spirituality & Sustainability Awards Dinner presenting Sustainability Award to Dr. Peter Raven, Director of the Missouri Botanical Garden, and presenting Spiritual Leadership Award to Ms. Doris Gvillo, religion columnist for Intelligencer. 2/19  Dizzy Atmosphere to play the Edwardsville Winter Concert Series   (Friday:  7:00 pm - 9:00 pm)
The City of Edwardsville Parks & Recreation Department would like to invite the community to enjoy the swing/Sinatra style of Dizzy Atmosphere as the fourth performance of the 2009-2010 Winter Concert Series. Performance takes place in the Leclaire Room of the Lewis & Clark College N.O. Nelson Complex located at 600 Troy Road. Tickets are available at the Edwardsville City Hall and the Edwardsville Public Library during regular business hours for a $7 suggested donation. 2/20  Wash 'n Wag ~ Fundraiser Dog Wash for Partners 4 Pets   (Saturday:  10:00 am - 3:00 pm)
Partners 4 Pets Animal Rescue is teaming up with Four Muddy Paws in Edwardsville to bring you their first annual “Wash ‘n Wag” Dog Wash Fundraiser.

The Event takes place Saturday, February 20th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
at the Four Muddy Paws Edwardsville store: 1727 S State Route 157.

Bring in your dog and for a donation of only $15, friendly Partners 4 Pets volunteers will shampoo and dry your pooch. While you wait, please enjoy complimentary soda, water and snacks.

A complimentary wine tasting will also be offered between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. (All wine donated by Crushed Grapes in Edwardsville)

All proceeds benefit Partners 4 Pets ~ a non-profit, no kill animal shelter in Troy, Illinois.

2/20  Project Restore's Trivia Night   (Saturday:  6:00 pm)
Saturday, February 20, 2010 – Project Restore Inc. will host their second annual trivia night at the Holiday Inn, 3800 Homer Adams Pkwy., Alton IL. The cost is $10.00 per person ($100.00/table of 10). Doors will open at 6:00pm with trivia starting at 7pm. A prize for first place will be awarded. Mulligans available for purchase. Silent auctions, 50/50 raffle & Basket Raffle. Proceeds raised from this event will benefit Project Restore's international clean water, hunger, education and disease prevention programs. 2/21  Discovery Series - Genealogy   (Sunday:  1:00 pm - 3:00 pm)
The second session of Maryville Parks and Recreation’s Discovery Sundays will be February 21 on “Beginning Genealogy”. Shirley Trekell President of the Troy Genealogical Society and Reba Mathis, Treasurer of the group, will present the session at Maryville Senior Center, 500 E. Division from 1:00-3:00 PM.


The session will help beginners who are just starting their family search. However, veteran researchers are also encouraged to attend and pick up some new ideas or resources. Mrs. Trekell and Mrs. Mathis are experienced genealogists who will be able to answer many of your research questions. Participants will receive a number of handouts and lots of ideas on how to develop their family tree.

2/28  Discovery Series - Training You to Train Your Dog   (Sunday:  1:00 pm - 3:00 pm)
The last session of Maryville Parks and Rec. 3rd Annual Discovery Series will be, “Training You to Train Your Dog”. The session will be held on, Sunday, February 28 at Cindy’s Critter Camp. 2330 S. Center (Rt. 159) from 1:00 to 3:00.

John Dahman, a certified Master Dog Trainer, will help you with the basics of training yourself to help train your new or older dog. John has in-field experience since 1992. He is a top rated tracker and tracking instructor. John has training knowledge and experience in national obedience trials through utility and agility class as well as training dual purpose police K-9 dogs.

John will give participants ideas and instructions on how to get your canine family member to respond to your wishes. Please do not bring your family pet—this session is for humans only!

Space is limited so reservations are needed. Please call Sharon at 345-1837 before 5:00 pm on Friday February 19th to secure your spot. In case of inclement weather, please call to verify that the session will be held.

Help Hope Animal Rescue raise much needed funds while at the same time having fun and winning Longaberger baskets.
Hope is holding a Longaberger Basket Game Sunday 2-28 from 2pm to 5pm at the Edwardsville Moose Lodge 7371 Marine Road.
